The purpose of the council shall be: - To foster quality Emergency Medical care, pre-hospital, which is cost effective and readily accessible to all persons in teh Northwest Connecticut Health Servicde Area 5 who are experiencing a state of medical emergency
- To function in concert with the State Office of Emergency Medical Sevices and the Northwest Connecticut Public safety Communication Center, and the Litchfield County Dispatch Communications Center, as the Emergency Medical Services plannning body for the Northwest Connecticut Health Area 5.
- To coordinate, consolidate and support the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) functions within the Northwest Connecticut Health Service Area 5.
The governing body for the Corporation shall be a council which shall have sole, undivided authority to act for the Corporation in the performance of all functions. The Duties of the council shall be: - To plan for and cause the implementation and development of an efficient, effective, total Emergency Medical Services system for the Northwest CT Health Are 5.
- To prioritize EMS programs, seek out available funds, and distribute said funds for those programs.
- To formulate and cause the implementation of the Northwest CT Health Service Area 5 EMS Plan.
- To disseminate information about EMS providers and to all those in Health Service Area 5 who need to know.

- Education and Traingin Committee/Public Information and Education
- Medical Advisory Committee
- Strategic Planning Committee
- Nominating Committee/By-Laws Committee
